The mobile detection system IMS-MINI-EXPLO has been conceptual designed for the detection and identification of explosives. It is used for law enforcement agencies, aviation security, criminal investigation departments and others. It is a trace analyzer for the identification of explosives with high sensitivity which is in the nano gram range. With this device the simultaneously detection of vapors and particles is possible. The particle collection, the operation of the device and the internal analysis is user-friendly designed.
With the IMS-MINI-EXPLO the following different explosives can be identified.
1. | TNT | 6. | PETN |
2. | TATP | 7. | Tetryl |
3. | SEMTEX | 8. | C4 |
4. | RDX/HMX | 8. | Ammonium nitrate (AN) |
5. | Nitroglycerin (NG) | 10. | Dynamite |
Additional substances can be included in the internal identification library on costumer request.
The IMS-MINI-EXPLO developed by IUT is a special mobile ion mobility spectrometer (IMS) for the highly sensitive detection of explosives. With this device traces of explosives as well as vapors can be easily detected and identified already at very low level without any enrichment directly in situ. The high sensitivity of the IMS cell developed at IUT based on the special design structure and differs from cells of other IMS vendor products. Besides of this the device is equipped with a removable sampling and thermo desorption unit. By means of this unit traces of explosives can be easily wiped off by a special swab material from surfaces of suspicious objects.
IMS-MINI-EXPLO: TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
For the detection traces of explosives are collected by means of the wipe test as shown in figure 2. To do this the so called wipe test unit is equipped with a special wipe tissue. After collecting of particles the wipe test unit is inserted into the inlet system of the IMS-MINI-EXPLO as shown in figure 1. The measurement is started by pushing the button. The result is shown on the display. The whole detection process including sampling, thermo desorption and following substance identification can be performed in few seconds.
Based on itslow weight and their powerful rechargeable battery the IMS-MINI-EXPLO is also best suitable for mobile use.
One of the main advantages of the IMS-MINI-EXPLO is the capability to detect and identify peroxide based explosive like triacetone triperoxide (TATP).
