24.07.09 - Container fumigation: The IUT responds to the ongoing discussion of the risks of fumigation of import containers and extended the list of substances of the FumiDetec-100.
With the development of the FumiDetec-100 the IUT provides already a mobile device for the detection and identification of toxic gases inside of import containers. The previous list of substances including for example the fumigation gases like methyl bromide, phosphine, choropicrin and hydrogen cyanide has been considerably extended. Among others also compounds such as toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, ethylene oxide, 1,2-dibromoethane and others can be detected and identified. The FumiDetec-100 is currently the only mobile device which can detect and also identify toxic gases in import containers in this diversity and sensitivity (ppb-range) without any pre-concentration.
